About Laura Bird

Laura Bird, marketing professional and artist, specializes in creative solutions and content for print and digital mediums, as well as event promotions and trade show booth material. She recently joined KPMG’s federal advisory team as an Associate for Federal Communications Strategy.

From 2017-2022, she was marketing coordinator for the Virginia Maritime Association where she managed the marketing and communications plans, updated/designed the website & SEO, ran the social media account, designed promotional material, created advertisements, wrote press releases, and developed media partner relations while working closely with the executive and event planning staff. She is particularly proud of her work as project lead for the VMA’s 64-page “100th Anniversary Commemorative Book” that dives into the association’s successes and overall role in Virginia’s port-related industry growth since 1920.


Prior to her work with the VMA, she was in charge of marketing for Victor Forward and SEK Solutions (2015-2016), did sales and graphic design for BizCard Xpress (2013-2015), and took on production assistant work for music videos, PSA’s, commercials, and more in Hollywood, California, including an internship with Ridley Scott and Associates.


Laura has a Bachelor’s degree in communications media from Fitchburg State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2012.


In her spare time, Laura enjoys pursuing creative activities including photography and video projects. She produced two 48-hour film submissions in 2015 and 2016 under the team “Flying Penguin Productions.” Each project was included in the Hampton Roads regional finals, with awards for “Best Costumes” and “Best Use of Dialogue.”
